Auto scrubber on a floor in a school cafeteria. Automated floor cleaning machine in public space. Janitorial maintenance

Registration is now open for training opportunities covering stone maintenance, carpet care and safety procedures. Penn State University, in conjunction with William (Bill) Griffin of Cleaning Consultant Services, will host three training and education events (all hosted at Penn State University).

Attendees will learn why and how to clean all types of soil, surfaces, and buildings in these interactive hands-on seminars. Come prepared to participate, think, and immediately apply the teachings. These courses are fun, enlightening, challenging, and rewarding. Sessions include:

• August 14-15: Stone Maintenance Technician Certification Seminar
This comprehensive, 16-hour (over two days), hands-on course covers proper procedures, chemicals and equipment needed to identify, clean, maintain and restore all common types of stone, marble, granite, ceramic, concrete, and terrazzo flooring found in commercial and residential properties. Stone and tile cleaning and maintenance are profitable add-ons for janitorial and carpet cleaning companies. In most areas, billing rates for tile work start at $1.50 per square foot and go to as high as $15.00 to $25.00 per foot for granite restoration. This is income that is available to most cleaners for the asking with new and existing customers.
The course involves at least 40 percent hands-on student involvement (come prepared and dressed to clean and polish stone flooring). This course prepares attendees to take the IICRC certification exam, which will be offered at the end of the second day and normally takes one to two hours to complete.
This course costs $495 and includes the fee for the IICRC certification exam.

• September 12-13: Carpet Maintenance Technician Certification Seminar
This two-day course provides each attendee with the latest information regarding the procedures, chemicals and equipment needed to clean, remove spots, repair, maintain and restore all common types of carpeting found in commercial and residential properties. The course reviews carpet manufacturing, construction, style, fiber characteristics and installation techniques and how these issues impact cleaning and maintenance results.
All commercially viable carpet and rug cleaning methods (wet, dry, and low moisture) will be discussed, shown and used during the course. This is a hands-on course where students learn by doing. Attendees should come prepared and dressed to actually use the chemicals, processes and equipment used by industry professionals on the job each day. The course ends with a discussion of how to plan, set up and maintain a carpet cleaning and maintenance program in any type and size of facility or business.
This course costs $495 and includes the fee for the IICRC certification exam.

• October 29-30: OSHSA 10hr. Safety and Health Outreach Course
The OSHA 10 course covers general industry occupational health and safety information (OSHA 29 CFR 1910) as it relates to cleaning, maintenance, grounds and restoration industry workers. The course promotes the importance of hazard and risk assessment, the Global Harmonized System (GHS), administrative controls, work practices, and personal protective equipment (PPE) and the implementation of controls to prevent accidents, injuries and toxic exposures that can impact worker health, wellness and performance.
This course costs $495 and includes a 10-hour OSHA card at the conclusion of the education.

All courses include an instructor provided training manual and, where applicable, IICRC certification exam fees. For more detailed course outlines, or information on the instructor or his company visit www.cleaningconsultants.com.
