A mother of four in Vermont has started a successful fundraising campaign to provide considerable cash tips to the custodians who are risking their own health in order to clean schools, reports Today.
The public schools in Williston, Vermont had to be shut down after school officials discovered that a staff member tested positive for COVID-19. Soon after, Brooke Thomas came upon a discussion taking place on Facebook regarding the shutdown and came to the realization that something needed to be done for the custodial staff risking their own health in order to deep clean the schools. That’s when Thomas and others decided to create an online fundraiser with the goal of crowdfunding $200 in donations for the janitors.
The parents greatly underestimated how supportive the public would be of the cause. Thomas woke up the morning after the fundraiser was started and saw that more than $2,000 in donations had come in. More than $7,000 was raised at the time of Today’s report, which came out on Friday.
We’re always in support of thanking janitors and trying to show them love often in our publications. Read the latest “Faces Of The Frontline” in Contracting Profits by clicking here.
