As a building takes up more space on an organization’s balance sheet, the need to maintain its value becomes increasingly critical, and is often accomplished by reducing added maintenance or refurbishment costs. Cleaning and maintenance is key to extending asset life cycles – and carpet care is a vital component in an overall asset preservation strategy. According to the Carpet and Rug Institute, increasing the annual cost of cleaning a carpet by 10 percent can extend a carpet’s useful life well beyond the manufacturer’s estimated life cycle, ultimately paying for itself in deferred replacement costs.

A free educational webcast is scheduled for Wednesday, May 20 at 1 p.m. Eastern, and will include a thorough discussion of the role carpet care plays in enhancing overall asset value of a facility. Also discussed will be a review of the key facets of a carpet maintenance regimen. Finally, attendees will have the opportunity to ask experts related questions in a life Q&A session immediately following the presentation.

Learning objectives include:
1. Analyze the formula to calculate carpet  life cycle costs
2. Identify the five elements of a customized comprehensive carpet care program
3. Understand how to calculate the annual cost of a carpet care program
4. Learn how to effectively communicate life cycle and asset value benefits to building owners, occupants and stakeholders
