Business-to business distribution company, xpedx, has earned the Energy Star designation at its locations in Seattle, Wash. and Cleveland, Ohio.

The Energy Star designation is given to buildings scoring in the top 25 percent of similar facilities nationwide for energy efficiency, based on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) energy performance rating system.

“At xpedx, we strive to not only provide sustainable solutions to our customers, but also to maintain our own energy-efficient operations,” says David Wallace, xpedx director, sustainability.

The Seattle and Cleveland sites combined have more than 270,000 square feet of space, and were awarded because they use less energy, are less expensive to operate and cause fewer greenhouse gas emissions than peer facilities, according to a release.

“At xpedx, we want to protect the environment by continually improving our energy performance,” says Jedd Parker, idivision manager of the Seattle location. “So earning the Energy Star designation validates our efforts to operate a sustainable and energy-efficient facility.”

The company has earned an Energy Star designation at 22 of its locations.
