xpedx, a business-to-business distribution company, has earned the Energy Star designation at its locations in Roanoke, Va. and El Paso, Texas.

The Energy Star designation is given to buildings scoring in the top 25 percent of similar facilities nationwide for energy efficiency, based on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) energy performance rating system. The xpedx facilities in Roanoke and El Paso meet strict energy performance standards, use less energy, are less expensive to operate and cause fewer greenhouse gas emissions than peer facilities.

“The Energy Star designation reflects our commitment to reduce energy usage and lower costs,” said Michael Brogan, division manager of the xpedx Roanoke location.  “It’s an important benchmark for our customers who are becoming more interested in ensuring sustainability throughout the supply chain.”

As an “Energy partner,” xpedx is also participating in a national call-to-action to improve the energy efficiency of America’s commercial and industrial buildings. The Roanoke and El Paso sites combined have more than 169,000 square feet of space.

The Roanoke and El Paso locations are the fifth and sixth xpedx facilities to earn the ENERGY STAR designation this year. xpedx has established a goal to earn the Energy Star in a total of seven facilities this year, and has earned the credential at 26 locations since 2011.
