The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) named Georgia-Pacific Consumer Products, Atlanta, a SmartWay Excellence Award winner for 2009, recognizing the company for its outstanding environmental performance.

Earth Friendly Products, Addison, Ill., has moved its corporate headquarters into an eco-friendly manufacturing facility in Addison. The new facility is equipped with environmentally preferred technologies and allows the company to more than double its current production.

Kimberly-Clark Professional, Roswell, Ga., is donating thousands of health and hygiene products to the Atlanta Community Tool Bank to help local nonprofits and charitable groups clean up from the extensive damage caused by severe flooding.

Rubbermaid Commercial Products, Winchester, Va., has reached a settlement of its patent infringement lawsuit brought against The Libman Co. located in Arcola, Ill. Under the terms of the settlement, Libman will cease selling the products, which were at issue in the lawsuit and will pay Rubbermaid an undisclosed settlement amount.

Enviro-Solutions, Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, has retained Metro Professional Products, Chicago and Green Sol, Denver. These two new U.S. distributors will represent the company in the Midwest and the mountain states respectively.

Cleanwise LLC, Marlborough, Mass., a division of Network Services Company, has been recognized for its superior supply chain performance by the U. S. Postal Service (USPS). The distributor received two honors: the Supplier Diversity Award and the Supplier Performance Award.

Cascades Tissue Group, Quebec, Canada, is now using renewable wind energy to offset all the electricity used to manufacture its Canadian North River commercial towel and tissue products. Last year, the Cascades Tissue Group Ð Sales Inc. division in the United States started the same project. The company's commitment reduces its North American carbon footprint by preventing the release of 24 million pounds of CO2 — the equivalent of planting 3 million trees.

Inc. magazine ranked Aluf Plastics, Orangeburg, N.Y., No. 4,737 on its third annual Inc. 5,000, an exclusive ranking of the nation's fastest-growing private companies.

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of 3M Floor Pads, 3M Building and Commercial Services Division, St. Paul, Minn., in partnership with Minneapolis-based Tennant Co., awarded St. Joseph Hospital in Chicago with a new T7 ec-H2O scrubber-dryer.

Consolidated Paper Co., Bronx, N.Y., held its Seventh Business Builder Trade Show in Teaneck, N.J. Owners and staff from nearly 175 distribution companies attended the September show.

At the show, the National Paper Trade Association presented George Longobardi, senior sales executive for Consolidated Paper with the "Golden Eagle Award."

SCA Tissue North America, Philadelphia, has formed the Tork Green Hygiene Council (TGHC). The panel of four experts will provide perspective and advice on how to create sustainable and healthy environments, both at work and home. The panel includes David Gottfried, founder of the United States Green Building Council; Joshua Radoff, co-founder of YRG sustainability consultants, Dr. Allison Aiello, assistant professor of epidemiology, University of Michigan; and Donna Duberg, assistant professor of clinical laboratory science, Saint Louis University.

 

MERGERS AND OTHER MOVES

PAK-IT LLC, Philadelphia has merged with JBI Inc., a publicly traded company based in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. PAK-IT CEO Robert G. Shoemaker, President Steve Seneca, Vice President of Operations and Technical Director Ronald Kurp and Vice President of Sales and Marketing Frank Wiley will join the JBI team.


ProTeam, Boise, Idaho, is expanding its market reach into Mexico and South America through a new partnership with American Trading Co., a diversity business based in Hamden, Conn.


Tennant Co., Minneapolis and Kaivac Inc., Hamilton, Ohio, are in joint development to incorporate Tennant's patent-pending ec-H2O (electrically converted water) technology into spray-and-vac, or No-Touch Cleaning, systems for restrooms. The new system will enable customers to sanitize restrooms without the use of chemicals.

Ec-H2O technology was recently selected by Sustainable Industries magazine as one of the 2009 Top 10 Green Building Products.


Mastercraft, Newburgh, N.Y., is now the exclusive provider of Zurich, Switzerland-based Cleanfix branded machines in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. The company will offer the machines under the Mastercraft powered by Cleanfix brand. Additionally, the product line will be supported by USA-CLEAN, a certified network of floor-care machine specialists.


Rotobrush Intl. LLC, Grapevine, Texas, and Guardian Building Products, Greer, S.C., announced their new partnership to combine Rotobrush's market leadership in helping businesses offer new services with Guardian's line of fiberglass products.

APC Filtration Inc. (APC), Ancaster, Ontario, Canada, awarded Chris Linck, president of CLA Inc. the 2009 Janitized Rep of the Year Award at its annual ISSA sales meeting. During the meeting, Tim Wind, retiring president of Wind Associates, presented APC president, Russell Kelly, with a surprise plaque naming APC as "A Great Rep Partner" to Wind Associates.

R.J. Schinner Co., Inc. hired Brian Schultz as a sales representative in Ohio. He will manage the Ohio, West Virginia, Indiana and Kentucky markets.

The company also hired John Meganck as director of purchasing.

David Parkes has been named general manager of Electrolux Commercial Division, Peoria, Ill. The appointment consolidates key functions within Sanitaire, including product development, sales and marketing.

The Henson Sales Group Ltd., Wayne, Pa., added Jack Lynch to its sales staff as administrative sales manager. He will help manage the group's field sales force.

Avmor, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, announced the addition of Carl Durst, in the role of market specialist — Ontario region. Durst will focus on development of the property management and building service contractor market segments.

The company also added Yves Perreault as market specialist — Quebec region. Perreault will focus on development of the educational market segments.

Aztec Products Inc., Montgomeryville, Pa., announced the promotion of Steven Spengler to vice president of sales for industrial floor cleaning equipment.

Pro-Link Inc., Canton, Mass., hired Russ Seybold to lead the buying group's strategic accounts division.

Spartan Chemical Co., Inc., Maumee, Ohio, announced the promotions of Tina Serio and Erica Kurfis. Serio assumes responsibility for the company's advertising/marketing and information technology departments. Kurfis will manage all of the day-to-day operations of the advertising/marketing department.

The company also promoted Jack Ellison to the position of East Coast divisional sales manager and Peter Lisiecki to regional sales manager in the Boston, Connecticut area.

Betco Corp., Toledo, Ohio, presented 2009 Pacesetter Awards to Regional Managers Bobby Kraft, Terry Newland, Mike Jacobs and Joe McPherson. Jacobs was also the recipient of the company's Terry Evans Award.

The company also recently honored president Paul C. Betz, for his 35 years of service.
