SSWA Awards Holtzman
The Sanitary Supply Wholesalers Association (SSWA) recently held its annual Executive Conference on Hilton Head Island, S.C. At the conference, the association presented the Stanley E. Friedman Award of Merit to David Holtzman, president of TEC Products Co., Carteret, N.J. The Friedman Award is a selective award that is not given annually, and its recipients must meet several criteria.
Candidates must be members of SSWA for at least 5 years, demonstrate the ideals of the SSWA and must be industry leaders who are active in the International Sanitary Supply Association as well as SSWA.

Lagasse Earns Industry Award
The United Group, Monroe, La., recently honored Lagasse Inc., New Orleans, with the Janitorial/Sanitary Supplier of the Year award. The award was given at the groups National Conference in New Orleans. Jon Phillips, director of sales, accepted the award, which the company earned based on number of distributors, volume of business, and the percent of increased business over the previous year.
Dade Paper Moves Headquarters
Dade Paper Co., a Miami-based distributor since 1939, recently announced that it has moved its corporate headquarters and south Florida distribution center to a new 22,000 square-foot facility at Beacon Station Business Park, also in Miami.
ProTeam Honored by ALA
The American Lung Association (ALA), recently presented ProTeam, Boise, Idaho, with its leadership award for its support of lung cancer research and initiatives.
OBITUARIES
Alfred Pollack, president and founder of National Chemical Laboratories Inc. (NCL), Philadelphia, passed away on July 10, 2003. Pollack was founded NCL after WWII,in 1946, and made it an industry leader that today sells to 40 countries.
Richard E. Gable, chairman and founder of Misco Products Corp. (MPC), Edison, N.J., died July 26 at his residence in Reading, Pa. An Air Force veteran of WWII, Gable founded MPC in 1962 and served as its president until 1987.
PLAYERS
United Receptacle Inc., Pottsville, Pa., recently announced that Sean Hartigan has joined the company as national sales manager for the janitorial supply market. He is responsible for working with United Receptacles team of more than 20 nationwide sales representative groups to increase market share.
Spartan Chemical Co., Inc., Maumee, Ohio, recently announced that Anthony Ramos and Jeff Traxler have each been appointed as regional sales managers. Ramos will be responsible for the Corpus Christi, Texas, region, and Traxler will be responsible for the state of Iowa.
Alto U.S. Inc., Chesterfield, Mo., recently announced the restructuring of its Clarke sales organization: Jack Meyers has been promoted to director of key accounts; Mark Nosiglia has been promoted to sales director, central region; and Rob Godlewski has rejoined Clarke as marketing manager.
Kaivac Inc., Hamilton, Ohio, recently announced two changes to its sales organization; Mike Tracy has been promoted to executive vice president of sales, and David Reed will assume Tracys original responsibilities as vice president of sales.
Bell Laboratories, Madison, Wis., recently announced that Mark Westover has joined the company as sales manager of its sales and marketing division for North America. Westover will be based out of Bells Madison headquarters. He will be responsible for the companys complete line of rodent control products.
