ISSA’s Cleaning Industry Management Standard (CIMS) development manager Dan Wagner says it’s never been more important than it is today for jan/san distributors to understand what makes customers tick.

Obtaining a CIMS certification will help you understand what challenges your customers face internally and externally. It will also show you a management framework that will aid in delivering consistent, quality services designed to meet customer’s needs and expectations.

Currently, 24 organizations are participating in the CIMS case study certification program. Wagner says that by having a charter group, it helps identify and smooth out any potential problems for when the Standard is officially launched.

ISSA recently accredited 10 assessors to help undergo the process of the study group.

“The fact that the assessors have been accredited is good evidence that the program is moving forward,” Wagner said. “We’re now prepared to conduct the assessments of our case study participants.”

ISSA plans to open the CIMS up to the industry at large in October in conjunction with ISSA/INTERCLEAN® 2007, which takes place October 23-26, in Orlando, Fla.

“The CIMS program is an opportunity for distributors to offer a value added new program and so far we’ve received nothing but positive feedback,” said Wagner.

EcoLogo Grants ISSA Members Special Pricing
EcoLogo, North America’s most widely recognized and respected multi-attribute environmental certification mark, recently announced that it is offering special pricing to ISSA members who wish to have their products certified as environmentally preferable.

Basic certification — the standard fee for certification — is priced as a percentage of the annual sales of the certified product, and will be extended to all ISSA members. Fully, half of all EcoLogo licensees pay no more than $1,200 per year.

EcoLogo also announced that prices for its EcoLogo Plus and EcoLogo Premium programs, which help clients market their green-certified products, have been reduced by 25 percent for ISSA members.

“We are extending these special pricing programs to ISSA members because of all that ISSA is contributing to the green cleaning movement,” Scott McDougall, president/CEO of EcoLogo and TerraChoice Environmental Marketing said. “We want ISSA members to benefit from their investment in producing environmentally preferable products from the very start.”
