ISSA recently released an electronic guide for members: “Green Cleaning Product Procurement Policies, Initiatives and Requirements in the U.S.,” a one-stop resource for government-specific green cleaning legislation.

According to a press release: “In order for ISSA members to remain competitive, it is imperative that they be well informed about this green trending in the marketplace. ISSA, therefore, has prepared this document to provide association members with a comprehensive overview of the green cleaning product procurement policies, initiatives and requirements of state, local and federal governments.”

Organized by state, the document contains hyperlinks and Web site addresses to more detailed information on legislation.

ISSA intends to educate its members on what the public sector requires, because as interest in green cleaning accelerates, it is growing fastest among government-supported agencies, as opposed to the private sector, which is slower in adopting these policies.

ISSA obtained this information through electronic and traditional research and the guide is meant to serve as a starting point for members interested in learning more. Members can obtain a copy by contacting ISSA at (800) 225-4772.


NJSSA Members Elected to Board of Trustees
Four industry members were recently elected to serve for three years on the New Jersey Sanitary Supply Association’s Board of Trustees.

Bill Neill, founder of Giant Services, Riverdale, N.J., and Fred Schimanski, president of Crystal Supply /Select Wholesalers, were the distributor members elected to the board.

Schimanski is NJSSA’s current president and has served on the board in various leadership roles for the past six years.

Stan Reichel, owner and president of Banner Chemical Inc., Orange, N.J., was elected from the manufacturer membership. He has been a member of the board for several years.

The board also elected Dan Rubinstein of Osprey Sales, Yardley, Pa., to fill Patrick Leighton’s unexpired term on the board of trustees.


OBITUARY

Longtime Industry Member Passes
Jyl Marie Chatterson, 80, co-founder of Chatterson McMillan, Regina, SK, Canada, which is now known as Chatterson Janitorial Supplies, passed away in early February.

In 1967, Jyl and her husband, Mel, joined with Wally McMillan to open the distributorship.

In 1985, Jyl and Mel retired and one of their sons, Garth, bought the business and renamed it Chatterson Janitorial Supplies.

Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Intellibot Robotics LLC, Portland, Ore., recently appointed Jerry Burden as a regional client manager.

Network Services Co., Mount Prospect, Ill., has promoted Paul D. Roche Jr., to chief information officer.

COMPANY NOTES

Clarke, Springdale, Ark., earned the bronze Seal of Approval from the Carpet Rug and Institute (CRI) for its BEXT extractor. The seal of approval verifies that the machine exceeds average statistics for carpet cleaning effectiveness.

Pro-Team Inc., Boise, Idaho, in partnership with Florida’s Department of Environmental Protection Agency, will provide indoor air quality technology to hotels in the Florida Green Lodging Program, which promotes several “green” techniques.

The O’Dell Corp., Ware Shoals, S.C., a supplier of floor care tools, has joined the National Paper Trade Association Alliance.

HOST/Racine Industries, Racine, Wis., presented two awards to its agents at its annual Agent Reception.
Two businesses received The Top Agency Performance Award: Buck Newell Synergy Sales, Orange Park, Fla., and New South Sales & Marketing, Lascassas, Tenn. The company’s Outstanding Performance Award went to Signature Marketing Inc., Springfield, Mo.

Best Sanitizers Inc., a Penn Valley, Calif.-based manufacturer of hand hygiene products, is offering a free influenza pandemic planning kit for businesses. The kit’s materials are in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s guidelines for preparing for a possible influenza pandemic.

Intellibot Robotics LLC, Portland, Ore., unveiled the world’s first commercial robotic vacuum, the IV 800, at the Building Service Contractors Association International trade show in Nashville, Tenn.

Excel Dryer, East Longmeadow, Mass., is the first hand dryer manufacturer to receive an endorsement from the Green Restaurant Association, a national non-profit organization that recognizes, encourages, supports and promotes ecological responsibility.
