ISSA, Lincolnwood, Ill., and the Cleaning Industry Research Institute (CIRI) Albany, N.Y., have secured an urban school district in the United States to participate in field-testing as part of ISSA’s initiative to develop a science-based “Clean Standard” for K-12 schools.

The CIRI will conduct the research through the Clean Standards Science Committee (CSSC) with the goal of identifying methodologies for measuring clean. The participating school district anticipates providing group-performance measures, such as student academic performance and absenteeism rates.

The process will lead to a clean standard that promotes the health of K-12 students. In turn, ISSA, with the cooperation of the CIRI, will develop a certification program based on the clean standard.
