The ISSA/INTERCLEAN Innovation Award 2008 winner announced at ISSA/INTERCLEAN Amsterdam is: Ultra Clean Ltd. for the product: UltraClean.

The award is judged on various criteria, such as originality, impact, practicality, durability, health/ergonomics, environment and profitability.

An excerpt of the jury report: “The judges are truly impressed with the imagination, inventiveness and enterprising spirit shown by the developer of UltraClean. It is exciting to see something which has real potential to make its mark on the washroom service market being launched at the show.”

UltraClean is a patented no-touch towel dispenser with an internal self-laundering system. During working hours it operates as an automatic no-touch linen towel dispenser. Then at any pre-programmed time, it provides full laundering services: it soaks and washes in clean hot water than brushes, sanitizes and dries the towel.

Frank Melos, a manufacturer’s representative with NorthStar Sales, Longmont, Colo., retired after 45 years in the jan/san industry. Melos began his career with the Colgate Co., where he worked from 1963 until 1973. He joined the Russ Leahy Co. in 1973 as a manufacturer’s representative in the Philadelphia area. Russ Leahy merged with NorthStar in 2007.

 

Clarke, Springdale, Ark., named Jeff Howell and John Deverey regional sales managers. Howell will manage the company’s sales territory in Michigan and Ohio. Deverey will serve in the same capacity in Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota.

 

Spartan Chemical Co. Inc., Maumee, Ohio appointed Mark Nosiglia to regional manager of the company’s St. Louis region. Nosiglia has over 20 years of experience in the management and equipment side of the business.

 

Chris Torry was named the sales manager of the ICS line for Hydro Systems Co., Cincinnati.

 

San Diego-based Mostenbocker’s Lift Off has hired Kevin Demming as their vice president and John Mader as their vice president of sales and marketing.

 

Randy Bolton joined Nice-Pak Commercial, Orangeburg, N.Y., as a sales executive. He will focus on the sale of commercial wet wipe products in relation to the education and tanning salon markets.

 

Robert J. Kocourek was named CFO of the Polymer Group Inc., Charlotte. He had previously served as vice president and chief accounting officer.

 

EnvirOX LLC, Danville, Ill., promoted Larry Lopata to vice president of sales and Josh Clemence to vice president of operations. Lopata has been with the company since 2003. Clemence most recently served as manager of manufacturing within the company.

 

Atlanta-based Zep Inc. has hired Robert L. Droke II as president of Zep Central and Lisa B. Malloy as president of Zep Retail.

Droke will have full general management responsibility for the company’s presence in the Southwest and Central Plains.

Malloy will handle the general management responsibility for all of Zep’s retail business. She will be based out of the company’s Emerson, Ga., facility.

 

Wayne Boone has been selected as director of sales for HydraMaster, Mukilteo, Wash.

Boone has 20 years of experience in the professional cleaning industry.

Nilfisk-Advance Acquires Cyclone Environmental Technologies

 

Nilfisk-Advance, Plymouth, Minn., has acquired all the assets of Cyclone Environmental Technologies LLC.

Based in Tempe, Ariz., Cyclone is an industrial cleaning technology and manufacturing company specializing in technologies for cleaning outdoor surfaces. The acquisition will form a new company within Nilfisk-Advance called Nilfisk-Advance Technologies, Inc.

Cyclone will continue to operate out of the Tempe location following the acquisition.

 


OBITUARIES

Irving Genet, Chairman of Dade Paper, Miami, passed away May 21 in Miami.

Mr. Genet graduated from the University of Miami in 1937 and he received his Master of Arts from Columbia University in 1938. After graduation, he became a schoolteacher until he and his father Harry founded Dade Paper in 1939. Irving started as the company’s first salesman and quickly rose to a leadership position.

Sol Schwartzman, former owner of Monmouth Paper, Red Bank, N.J., passed away May 19.

Mr. Schwartzman, along with his brothers Herman and Nathan built Monmouth Paper into a leading paper and janitorial supply company. In 1985, they sold the business to Bunzl.
