JohnsonDiversey, Sturtevant, Wis., has joined the World Wildlife Fund’s (WWF) Climate Savers program.
As part of the program, JohnsonDiversey pledges to significantly reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions from their operations.
While the company will invest $19 million over the following five years to honor these commitments, company officials expect an operational savings of $31 million on account of enforcing the initiatives.
By 2013, the company pledges to reduce emissions from their operations by eight percent below their 2003 levels. That amounts to an 89,000-ton reduction in emissions.
To reach their specified numbers, the company has issued the following operational initiatives: switching to vehicles with the best fuel efficiency in their class and alternative energy vehicles to improve fuel efficiency; upgrading the energy efficiency of its building, manufacturing plants and operations in major sites around the world; and installing on-site alternative energy sources such as fuel cells or wind turbines.
