Dilution control systems come in many styles, varieties and configurations. However, they all have the same goal in mind — to take concentrated cleaning chemicals and dilute them with water to create ready-to-use cleaning solutions.
When these systems work as advertised, facilities can experience a bulk chemical savings between 15 and 40 percent. Unfortunately, not all facilities are built the same.
A very common issue among facilities across the nation is fluctuating water pressure at the source of the dilution control system. Variations in water pressure can adversely affect the dilution accuracy of chemical proportioning units.
“Different water pressure in a facility is a major issue impacting the accuracy of chemical proportioners,” says Adrian Cook, marketing manager for cleaning chemicals for 3M, St. Paul, Minnesota. “Water pressure can vary in different areas of a building and can fluctuate throughout the day, which can greatly affect a dispenser’s ability to provide accurate dilutions.”
Manufacturers have recently taken a large step forward in combating this issue by introducing chemical proportioner systems that automatically adjust water pressure flow rates to ensure accurate chemical dilution. These proportioners have been designed with pressure-regulating technology that, with a push of a button, delivers an easy and economical way to ensure dilution accuracy each time, regardless of a facility’s fluctuation in water pressure.
Water Pressure Affects Chemical Dilution Accuracy
