The Healthy Facilities Institute (HFI) has been established to provide authoritative information for creating and maintaining clean, healthy indoor environments.

According to its website, HFI will address the many interrelated aspects of built environments — such as air, water, energy, materials and resources, green cleaning, indoor environmental quality, waste management, people and more — as an integrated or holistic system.

HFI's foundational advisory board consists of leaders and scientists in the indoor environmental field, including Stephen Ashkin, president of the green consulting firm The Ashkin Group; Charles Gerba, PhD, professor of environmental microbiology at the University of Arizona; Jason Marshall, ScD, lab director of the University of Massachusetts Lowell (UMass Lowell) Toxics Use Reduction Institute (TURI); David Muddari, PhD, former senior advisor for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on both technical and policy matters related to indoor air quality; and Dan Wagner, director of facility service programs for ISSA, among others.
