Sanitary supply sales specialists from across the United States attended a professional sales seminar courtesy of Spartan Chemical Co., Maumee, Ohio, from March 14-16. Spartan’s management and field-sales personnel presented practical sales tips and educational tools to help distributors, such as: floor care, food-processing sanitation, green cleaning, restroom cleaning, carpet care and wood floor care.
JanPak Holds First National Sales Meeting
JanPak, Davidson, N.C., a 60-year-old national jan/san distributor, brought its sales team and management personnel to Hilton Head Island, S.C., for awards and relaxation in February.
Despite the company’s age, the national sales meeting was the first of its kind in JanPak’s history.
More than 250 JanPak associates, spouses and supplier partners gathered together for the four-day sales meeting.
The following sales professionals were recognized for their outstanding 2004 performances by being inducted into JanPak’s 2005 President’s Club: Carlo Lucido, John Davis, Bob Hair, Tommy Phelps, and Dallas Clapsaddle. All five are senior account managers.
The Malish Corp., Willoughby, Ohio, recently announced that its China facility has moved to a larger building to accommodate a rapidly increasing production load. The new facility in Dongguan City, Guangdong, China, features 5,400 square meters (approximately 58,000 square feet) on three floors.
National Chemical Laboratories (NCL), Philadelphia, recently conducted its advanced training of regional sales managers from all over the United States. The training focused on new green product offerings, as well as the introduction of new products, like CRC Ceramic Restoration Créme and Super Sonic Floor Stripper.
OBITUARIES
Jeanne P. Lawton, 74, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., died on February 19. She was active in the family business, Lawton Brothers Inc., a successful Orlando-based jan/san distributor, where she met her husband of 40 years, Lawrence Lawton Jr. She spent many years volunteering for the Florida Sanitary Supply Association.
Jerome “Jerry” Lippman, an inventor, philanthropist and founder of GOJO Industries, an international manufacturer of skin-care products and dispensing systems, died on March 2. He was 92. Lippman made many great contributions to the jan/san industry with his many inventions and patents, including a portion-controlled dispenser.

Spartan Chemical Co., Maumee, Ohio, an international manufacturer of cleaning chemicals, recently announced the appointment of three new regional managers: Andrew Hartweg will head up Spartan’s St.Louis region; Frank Toczek will manage the Buffalo/Rochester, N.Y. region; and Glenn “Denny” Pearson will represent Spartan in Springfield and the rest of central Illinois.
AFFLINK, Tuscaloosa, Ala., a marketing group of more than 540 independent distributors, recently made three personnel announcements: Daron Babcock has been appointed to the role of vice president of global accounts; Jim Walker was promoted from director of packaging to vice president of packaging; and Wes Owen has joined AFFLINK as packaging manager.
NSS Enterprises, Toledo, Ohio, recently announced that Michael Friedman has joined the company as strategic accounts market manager for its full line of commercial floor care equipment.
Guillot’s Sanitary Supply Inc., New Olreans, has announced the appointment of Ed Elliott as director of marketing. Elliott first called on the Guillot family in 1975 as a regional manager for Walton March. Since, he has worked for other markets but always kept business ties with Guillot’s.
Fortune Plastics Midwest, Mundelein, Ill., announced that Dan Bancks has joined the company as sales manager. Bancks has 24 years of experience in the flexible films industry.
Betco Corp., Toledo, Ohio, has announced more winners of the company’s 2004 Pacesetter Award: Al Hollis, Greg Maxwell and Scott Brown.
