Our country continues to mourn the unprecedented loss of life in the attacks on New York and Washington, as well as the chilling Pennsylvania airline crash.

Bad times seem to bring out the good in people. The outpouring of sentiment and support from our industry alone has been tremendous. The International Sanitary Supply Association (ISSA) and its members had donated $80,000 at press time. Please contact ISSA if you wish to donate to the ISSA Foundation Red Cross Fund.

Heroes come in all shapes and colors and aren’t always created by a national tragedy. Close to home, “Operation Clean Sweep” is an ongoing example of industry altruism.

Recently, jan/san businesses and their employees across the nation donated their products and time. They cleaned homeless shelters, community centers and schools.

The Milwaukee Clean Sweep effort drew a record number of volunteers — 53.

In times of need, our ability to give is immense. And every little bit counts.
