UL Environment Acquires GREENGUARD Certifications

UL Environment, a business unit of UL (Underwriters Laboratories), an independent product safety certification organization, has reached an agreement with Air Quality Sciences Inc. (AQS) to acquire AQS and its certifying body, the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute. GREENGUARD certifies building products, including general cleaners, glass cleaners, floor cleaners, aerosol products and carpet cleaners for low chemical emissions.

This acquisition follows the purchase of TerraChoice, managers of the EcoLogo certification program, by ULC Standards in August 2009. With that acquisition, TerraChoice joined UL Environment as part of the Underwriters Laboratories global network.
